FireFox no-scripts tells me I have to enable 10 sites to allow this one
site to work correctly. I have never seen so many sites in my no-script
drop down box.

No thanks. I would rather get the flu.

I tried... and it worked.
I was disappointed by the "procedure" as you are, but now I have the 8
books.
