Thanks Jack. The unit came with an older release of the software so I downloaded
3.2 and then later 3.3 right when it came out. It failed the same way under both
3.2 and 3.3. I did all the downloads and sending to the unit manually rather
than via the WebUpdater.

Okay. And if it does the same thing with out a microSD card in it I'd
think there is something framitzed up in the firmware or something. I
agree with one of the other posters, that having a "Select Map" choice
there is not needed or normal. I cannot think of any page or menu on my
76Cx where there is a "Select Map" choice.
I think I'd be looking at getting the GPS exchanged or looked at under
warranty.

I've got the same problem searching for cities instead of searching for

adresses (step 4). When I press 'menu' and switch to 'find by name' the unit
reacts very slow to my inputs. After a short time the display fades and the
unit goes down. I use Metroguide Europe and some topo-Maps.

hmmm... my software version is 3.10 and the GPS version is 2.90
I do not see an "address" icon and when I key ENTER for the Cities
Icon, I get
the list of nearby cities and when I key MENU at that point, I get
Find by Name
Nearest containing...
Select Map
Change Reference
If I do ENTER on SELECT MAP, I get
US Topo - EAST (which I have loaded on the Micro SD)
Americans Rec Basemap v
Use Best Maps
re: firmware version....
did someone say there was a way to obtain the firmware version on the
unit?
I did not see a way to look at that...
