From my recent searchings, the GNIS fips files only give names and locations
of populated places. I need data for locations of natural items, such as
mountains and the like. The data will be used primarily for raster mapping,
so coordinates that give me ±15 meters will work just fine.
I had found this data some time ago, but can't seem to locate it now. (Brain
damage stinks, really it does.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

See http://geonames.usgs.gov/domestic/download_data.htm . If you download
the DECI files, you get all names, not just place names. The FIPS files
are just the FIPS place names, I believe.
