Hi
I'm a Danish reporter who is going to do a lecture on GIS mapping for
british journalits.
I have been browsing the net in order to find GIS data (esri shape
files for download) but with no luck.

Any suggestions

I am afraid that there is little or no "free" data for the UK, beyond
that provided in the ESRI basemap or the Digital Chart of the World
(which is available in E00 format). Detailed data are only available
from the Ordnance Survey, who are required to operate a cost recovery
policy; this means that it is not cheap.

Data for Denmark are available at http://ais.dmu.dk
Free for _non_ commercial use...
