Denver's Office of Economic Development (OED) is seeking a
Senior GIS Analyst. This is a permanent full time position reporting
to the OED Director. This position will be required to use GIS to
support decision making for the development, implementation and
evaluation of social, community, and economic development programs and
will take the lead in initiating the use of GIS to support the
management of programs. In addition to spatial reasoning and technical
abilities, the successful candidate should be capable of taking and
fulfilling map and data requests from the public and agency staff,
building collaborative relationships, supervising interns, interacting
with the public and nonprofits to fulfill map requests. Excellent
cartographic skills and experience collecting and analyzing census data
is also expected. An understanding of the concepts, strategies and
policies of social, community and economic development and guiding
agency management in the use of GIS to support the agency's mission
is strongly preferred.
Requirements for this position include a BA/BS in Geography, Planning,
Engineering, GIS, Geology, Computer Science or a directly related field
and three years of professional GIS analyst experience. Additional
appropriate education may be substituted for one year of the minimum
experience requirement. Additional appropriate type and level of
experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirement on
a one year for one year basis.
