I have a map project with several layers. I need to extract data from the
map and place it in an SQL table for mapping and routing. Sepcifically, I
need data from the streets layer, but I also need data from several other
layers. Now, here's the hitch: The database format is such that there are
two tables that hold the data. The parent table (fileA) holds one record
for each unique streetname, city, state, zip combination. There is then a
child table (fileB) which holds a record for each street segment, and which
is related to a record in the parrent table. For instance, Main Street in
Anytown has one record file a. There may be 20 entries in fileB for Main
Street, which are related back to the fileA record by guid. So each child
record contains a unique guid for the record in one field, and then hold a
related guid for the FileA record. I want to pull data from multiple
layers and insert it in the tables. I need a utility that will create the
records in the tables as needed, and which is user-configurable to allow me
to point at new layers and select which data I want from them. Anybody
know of a tool that is already out there for this, or have any insight as
to the development of one?
