I received an email this morning from a friend informing me something
to the effect of:

"COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, THE PURPOSE OF WHICH IS TO CONSIDER A PROPOSED
E-COMMERCE ENHANCED GIS WEB ACCESS FEE ORDINANCE, 2006-11."

My question to you; does this mean that all my ebay transactions will
be monitored and taxed? What about small businesses, will they too
suffer from taxation for every online order placed in their ecommerce
applications? How will GIS technologies aid in this process?

I'm interested to hear what you have to say; I'd also like to know how
(if) these technologies have affected your county. Thanks.

From the statement you have made it is hard to know what the county
commisioners mean. At first glance I take it to mean that information
that the county has in GIS format will no longer be free but available
for download for a fee or access to it will be via an account. That is
what I read into the statement.

As to your interpretation, I do not see how your e-bay transaction will
be monitored or tracked via GIS. If you are required to collect tax on
all transaction regardless of mode then this is nothing new.
