I have downloaded some data in e00 format but I don't use or have access to
ArcInfo.
Can anyone suggest a freeware or open source application to convert from e00
to other formats (shape, ascii, txt, etc..)?
thanks,
hj

Grab a copy of Global Mapper. It isn't free, but it's very affordable, and
does what you're asking--plus a *whole* lot more.

Hi all,
Still having a ton of material to go through, however, we've managed to get
a few updates published in our ESRI conference coverage at
http://www.gisuser.com/content/category/1/198/2/
You'll catch some views of what's new at 9 and beyond, extensive info from
the floor, and a pretty comprehensive image gallery of some 200+ images from
San Diego.
I'd love to hear from some of the attendees and users that were at the show.
What got your attention? What didn't.. What was cool.. Anything else?
Cheers
Glenn

You might want to look at
http://avce00.maptools.org/avce00/
and
http://gdal.maptools.org/index.html
From the "avce00" site, "avcimport" will take uncompressed e00 files and
produce arcinfo vector coverages, and e00compr will uncompress compressed e00
files so avcimport can read them.
From the gdal site, "ogr2ogr" will convert avc files into ESRI shapefiles and
several other formats.
Both sets of tools are open source.
