Cropping Geotiff Files without Fully Loading the File

I would like to be able to read and crop a geotiff file, without
having to load the entire file. For instance, the file is stored on
the hard drive, and rather than loading the entire file; seeking and
cropping to the byte section based on the info specified (i.e bounding
box, datum, projection, etc...) .
