Any public domain map/boundary for the UK?

Does anyone know of any public domain map or mappable-boundaries for the UK?

I'm currently working with OS data, but the costs of using that on a public
website for demonstration purposes are somewhat prohibitive. So I'm hoping
that someone may know of any public domain boundary set for the UK that can
be mapped. Doesn't really matter what level of geography (so long as its
more than just the coastline), date or format.

VMAP0 is a freely downloadable data set. The scale is 1:1,000,000 - it may
not detailed enough for what you are looking for.

Thanks Andrew. 1:1,000,000 does seem rather high, but yours is the best
suggestion I've seen. I'm already downloading the data for Europe and I'll
see what it looks like.

GIMapper has UK Sample Data. But i Do'nt know if they are PD
