Hello Group
Does anyone know a workaround/trick for adding Mapinfo data to a Arcmap data
frame....? Normally
I just add the data and the Mapinfo file appear as a data layer in the map
window - but recently I had problems... When I tried to add the Mapinfo .Tab
file Arcgis understood the data as a text file. How do I make ARcGis
understand that I add MapInfo data and not Text data.......?
I work with ArcGIS(ArcView) 9.1
Any suggestions / Ideas ...?

Poul,
To my knowledge there are only 3 ways,
1. Purchase ESRI Interpetobility extension (~2500 $)
2. Purchase TabReader Extension ( ~375$)
3. Convert Tab files to shapes using MapInfo "Univeral Translator" if
you have access to mapinfo.
I just purchased TabReader and it works like a charm.

There's also FME (http://www.safe.com/ ), which allows you to translate
formats. They've got an 14day trial version, dunno what the restrictions
are for that, i remember not all formats are supported.
Worth a try.

Felix,
Yes you are correct but actually FMEs translator is the motor behind
mapInfo's Universal Translator, just stripped down a bit.
