For my Nuvi 750 you can turn on the Nuvi, go to the test page (press the
battery icon for 8-9 seconds), then you can plug in your USB cable, USB
charger, etc. Then exit the test screen. The Nuvi will reboot then it will
work normally. This works with my USB cable on my computer and my Motorola
charger for my cell phone, and my cell phone charger for my car. My cell
phone is a RAZR. I assume it will work with any USB type plug.
I assume it will work for any Nuvi.
Have fun.

I have the Nuvi 760, which is essentially the same GPSr as the 750.
I'm nnot sure what the test page is. The only time I see the battery
icon is the initial screen, when the choices of "Where to?" & "View
Map" are offered. Would you please give a little more guidance.

After you turn on your 760 (in battery mode) and it boots up you will see
the "where to" and "view map" on the main screen - Press and hold the
battery icon for about 8-9 seconds - another screen will pop up - that is
the test screen - in the lower left had corner you will see "USB ID" and "no
cable detected" on the same line. When you plug in the USB cable the nuvi
will detect the USB connection - after it has - You the press "Exit" icon in
the lower right corner of the screen. This will cause the nuvi to reboot and
it will operate normally - you will not have the battery icon shown - just
like when it is on the mount in your car.
By the way from the main test screen you can move to other screens by
pressing the "next" or "back" icons - the other screens test the nuvi's
memory, programs, screens, sound, etc. Also when you are finished - if you
have it connected to the computer don't forget to use "safely remove
hardware" function.

any more info - let me know.

Oh and by the way you can get back to the test screen even if you do not see
the battery icon. Just press the screen where the battery icon would be for
8-9 seconds the test screen will pop up.
