reliable discount web store for nuvi 750? (US-based)

My local GPS store is quoting a $599 price for this unit, with
delivery within two weeks. If you go to www.google.com/products and
enter "garmin nuvi 750" you see lots of stores with a lower price. One
store is quoting a $410 price. That's a serious difference.

But since this would be my first GPS, I have no experience with any of
these stores. Can anyone suggest a store that is reliable and has a
better price than $599.

Most of the sellers have a buyer rating on FROOGLE. What you tend to
see is that the ones with significantly lower prices also have
significantly lower customer satisfaction. That is not to say they
are dishonest, but to achieve those prices they are running a much
leaner operation in terms of customer support and inventory. Also,
the 750 is a new model, and it will take a bit of time for the real
discounts to appear.

        All you need to do is paying attention to END USERS feedback, and you can
always GOOGLE for whatever_company RATING.

        And if local is selling for $600 then $400-450 would be about right for
online. And that's the only reason I can't afford to spent extra $200-400
to show support to local store.

        Few months ago I bought my Nuvi 680 for around $650 and my local stores

I always use www.resellerratings.com for my online stores, and that's
why I tend to buy everything from newegg, even though I live in CA and
have to pay the CA sales tax. Newegg prices are usually outstanding
AND their customer service is tops.

But for the GPS stores, there are either no ratings or only one or
two. That's too small of a sample size, and it's always possible that
the ratings are "plants."

I have no experience with any other ratings. But I do agree with the
statement someone made that the lower prices tend to correspond with
the lower satisfaction ratings.

About 5-6 years ago, I did a comparison between prices and
resellerratings scores for computer motherboards, or something
similar. If you wanted to get the item from a store with a reseller
rating of 6 (out of 7 at the time), you had to spend about 10-15% more
than the rock-bottom price.

Neither can I. But if I want/need a GPS badly enough and I've decided
that the nuvi is THE GPS for me, then I'm paying extra essentially to
get it as soon as it comes on the market. I think I'm going to wait
until there is a specific "need" for the GPS, and then buy it.

That's a serious difference. I'll bet for that same $650, you would
get only a lesser-featured nuvi 600 series model from the local
stores.

        I do order quite afew small items from Newegg, and I agree the service is
great. For the expensive items (hundreds or over thousand) then Newegg has
no match for quite afew others


        I just try to find the general price then shop for some special sale see
if I can save few $$$.


        Before most order usually arrived on the 2nd or 3rd day, now with better
get faster deliver from oversea than inside USA.


        You just need to shop around and you may be able to see good price, and
for older Nuvi 6xx you shouldn't have much or any problem finding in
$400-500 range.

        Just point your browser to www.google.com or www.nextag.com those should
give you a good start.
