hi to all,
1)i've installed mapsource on a netbook (eeepc asus 1001)
2)i've installed my own maps with mapstetoolkit
but in mapsource there i can't select the map installed because there is
no menu-items to select it (in the upper left corner with the zoom
icons) as in the mapsource version installed on my desktop ???
Do anyone has an idea of what's going wrong?
Philippe.

Right click on the toolbar, where the icons are, then left click on
"View" to checkmark it. You can also click on "View" on the Menu bar
and go down to "Switch to Product".

MapSource doesn't have option to install anything. It just have option to
SELECT one of the installed MAP(s) you installed on your computer.
To install the MAP, you just need to install it normally just like all
other applications, then MapSource will detect and let you select the
installed map(s) you have on the system.
I don't know anything about Mapstetoolkit, and you shouldn't need it in
the first place.
1. Just install it like you normally do with any other aps.
2. Open MapSource then select the map you want. MapSource should be able to
detect it.
3. Then give it the KEY to UNLOCK it then you have it.

that's exactly what i've said !
that was exactly the problem : it was impossible to "select" the map in
Mapsource because there was no "select" widget in the GUI after
mapsource installation (before installing any map on the netbook).
fortunately this widget come back after installing another map?!?
this is a free application which manage map installation in mapsource,
it is usefull when you make your own maps with "Ground truth" from the
openstreetmap data's.
this correspond to copy some files in C:GarminTRIPWPT5mymap (the
*.img file and auxiliary files like *.TYP and *.tdb) and add some key
to mapsource in the registry, depending on product code and its family
ID, for example
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREGarminMapSourceFamiliesGroundTruth Maps]
"ID"=hex:1,0
"TYP"="C:\Garmin\TRIPWPT5\mymap.TYP"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREGarminMapSourceFamiliesGroundTruth Maps1]
"LOC"="C:\Garmin\TRIPWPT5\mymap"
"BMAP"="C:\Garmin\TRIPWPT5\mymap.img"
"TDB"="C:\Garmin\TRIPWPT5\mymap.tdb"
this was not possible because there was no "selection" widget in
mapsource GUI! That was my problem.
if you make your own map from openstreetmap data's there is no need to
UNLOCK it .. :-)
