I have a nuvi 360 T.
Under C:Garminpoi I have several GPI files loaded
In addition, I am using a tool that saves POIs using the
POI Loader to a file that sees to always be named 'poi.gpi'.
It now seems that the category saved via the POI Loaded is always listed
last in the 'Custom POIs' menu, forcing me to scroll down to find it.
Does anyone know what influences the sorting of the POI categories in
the 'Custom POIs' section? I tried
1. playing with the filenames of the GPI files (capitalization,
renaming poi.gpi. to 1poi.gpi, lowercasing the names of the
other GPI files)
2. changing the category name in the gpi file in several ways
to no avail.
Any help is appreciated

Hi Mathias,
Garmin has obviously programmed its awful POI Loader to overwrite the
existing poi.gdi :-(
Moreover, I do not see any possibility of ordering personal pois, since
they seem to carry some kind of internal heading.
However, if your device can read SD cards, you may want to reproduce the
tree structure of your Garmin unit and then copy your data into
respective folders under X:GarminPoi . Then you can access these
files via "Zieleingabe" -"Extras".
Happy New Year

Just wondering the difference between awful and not so awful when I
understand that there is ONLY ONE SINGLE file. IOW, if the awful program
won't delete the old one to replace with the newer one then what do you
expect it to do.
Also, I don't pay much attention to the POI, but my understanding that
Garmin GPS displays the POI in DISTANCE order not alphabet order.
Or if you want to buy a Happy Meal hamburger to your hungry crying kids,
you don't want to drive to Axxxx store 200 miles away when you can just
drive to Zxxxx store few yards away.
IOW, the GPS is for location, and DISTANCE is part of the GPS. Or
Distance should be more importent than alphabet order.

You're way off base. The OP wants his categories in a set order.

He is asking if there is any way to put numerous POI files in some sort of
order.
I have about a dozen different POI files that I can access.
The only way I have found to put them in any order at all is to reload them.
They will appear in the order in which there were loaded.
That is a pain I realize but it is the only solution I have found.
So, about once a year I redo mine POI files and reload them, then just make
do until next year.
Sorry, that is the best I have found.
