After some 4-5 years of good service, my nuvi 765t now "freezes up" or
crashes while it is routing me to a destination. Only way to get it to
work again is to remove it from the mounting bracket and let the battery
die. Then it will boot up fine and work for a little while before
crashing again. Any one else have this happen and what can be done to
fix it?

Maybe you could try a hard reset of the 765T. Start it up while

You may very well have a battery that is finally giving out. Does this
happen on battery only or even when plugged into the car 12V? If only when
on the battery consider replacing it yourself. It's not that difficult. Go
to a place like "BatteryShip.com". They not only have batteries that are as
good or better than the OEM ones but also supply the small tools needed to
get the case open and screws removed for about $20. Garmin will charge $75
or so.
