nuMaps Lifetime

I purchased a GPS for my wife which included this "Program" (as Garmin
calls it on the package).

It entitles me to "up to 4 updates per year..."

How often does Garmin create new maps? When I hooked it up on April 4
for the first time, I accepted the one-time update to "current" and
have CNNANT 2010.4. The .xml file identifies the base map as
CNNANT_2010_40.

Does the 4 and/or 40 relate to April? Do they freshen frequently,
monthly, or quarterly? If quarterly, is it months 1, 4, 7, and 10?

Scheduled quarterly--exact dates unknown to me. There could be
in-between updates as was the case with CNEUNT 2010.30. There was at
least three separate releases to correct major mapping errors. Even
though the version number remained officially as 2010.30, the released
version number shown in MapSource was updated just once to 13.31 from
the initial version at 13.30. HTH...

Which unit did you get, and where did you get it?
