Have been reading more and more
about the various new Garmin GPS features
that basically allow you to create
a "mapping wallpaper"
and then geosync it to coordinates
such as with the Garmin Custom Maps.
It appears to be mostly getting a JPEG
into Google Earth - sync the coords -
and then download into the GPS.

Same is probably true for the latest news
about the "birds eye view" feature.

BUT - these are only avail on the newer mapping GPS
such as the Dakota, Colorado, & Oregon.
Too bad it can't be done on the older mainstream
devices like a 60 or 76 -
It must be the format decoding, etc.
The newer GPS are ok with their touchscreens, etc -
but the cost is really higher than I'm willing to spend right now.
The old workhorses still nav just fine...

Garmin have just introduced a new Oregon 450, which means the older but very
similar Oregon 400 should be selling at discounted prices soon!
