Has anyone loaded maps, routes waypoints etc. to a microSD card when the
card is out of the GPS, ie the card is connected directly to a PC? If
so, how? My hope is if I could do this then I would be able to take
advantage of the faster speed of the USB 2.0 port in my PC thereby
loading maps in minutes rather than hours.
thanks,
glenn forney

I did. No problem at all. Just copy the file GMAPSUPP.IMG (created by
Mapsource on your HD) to the map Garmin of your MicroSD.

you can only load maps to the card, no routes tracks and waypoints.
And you can load the stored tracks in GPX format from the card.

You'll need a microSD to SD adapter and a USB SD card reader burner.
When that is plugged into a Windows PC the microSD card is seen as a
removable drive for use by humans or MapSource applications.

When the "x" series handheld GPS receivers are connected via a USB cable
and placed in the USB Mass Storage mode, the microSD card in them can be
seen (again as a removable drive) without having a reader/burner.

How do you place the GPSMAP 60csx into the "USB Mass Storage Mode" ?
Thanks,
Kirk
