Hi,

what are the possibilities to import a map from the Garmin Legend
(black and white) device?

I would like to import it into my PC and then export to another device
(Vista CX).

thanks
chris

I don't think it can be done. The basemaps cannot be imported and
exported, they are in the firmware.

Supplemental maps on a Legend are stored in free main memory (not on
cards) and those cannot be downloaded. If you have MapSource it implies
that you can download maps but you are actually only downloading a list
of the supplemental maps, not the actual maps themselves.

If you uploaded the map to the Legend can't you just upload the same map
(and more) to the Vista Cx? If it is a mapping product that requires
unlocking and you have not used your second unlock, you may be able to
acquire an unlock code for the Vista Cx.

It is not basemap

I could but I don't have it anymore on my PC.

I have partially resolved the problem downloading using linux version
of sendmap.
On my hard drive appeared following files:
I0203462.img (2,992,128)
I0203462.lbl (399,266)
I0203462.rgn (2,554,138)
I0203462.tre (26,701)
Mapsunlo.mps (80)

when I opened the .img file in MapSource I see all the streets but I
cannot see the street names.

when imported into VIsta CX the same, and cannot search on addresses,
as it was before in Legend.

any help?

thanks
chris

Okay, I understand better now. You're way ahead of me on that stuff. I
guess those are the files that are on the Legend that us Windows users
would never see.

When I upload supplemental maps to a memory card MapSource always
creates one file and it is always named gmapsupp.img. I assume that,
in that case, the maps and data (street names, POI, etc.) are all in the
one file. Beyond that, I can't help.

Good luck with that,

Jack
