gpsbabel hangs with eTrex Vista H

Hello people.

I tried to download info from my Vista H, using the command:

gpsbabel -D9 -i garmin -f usb:0 -o gpx -F gpx.gpx

but the download stops every time at the same point. I first tried
with 1.3.6 of gpsbabel, then found a few references to this problem
(or very similar), and it having been solved in more recent versions,
so I compiled and install 1.3.7beta from CVS - same result.

Below is the output of the above command. It seems comm starts well,
but then an unknown command is encountered.

Can anyone suggest how to proceed from here?
