My custom POI files (*.gpx) format were located on my laptop which was
recently stolen. Unfortunately I have no other copy of these files. I
discovered that on my device (StreetPilot c550) the one POI file is easily
found but it is in *.gpi format. My question concerns whether it's possible
to convert this *gpi file back to a *gps file. If I can't do this I'm
fairly certain that I will loose all the POI's that are currently in my
c550;they will be replaced by whatever new POI's I can come up with. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Brad.

Just rename the GPI file in the GPS ("first name") to exampel: poi_old.gpi,
then it will not be overwritten by new data from the PC !

What is loaded from the PC from the poi loader is always called poi.gpi.
Both files (poi_old.gpi and poi.gpi) will now be read by the
GPS................ OK ?

Brad,
There is no publicly available tool to decompile gpi files.

Thanks for that information, Doug. I still haven't tried Per's advice but
will do so when I get the chance.
