I was curious about the topic that has been discussed
concerning when and how the nuMap 60-day period
is tracked... ie - first sat acquire & lock -

I thought that this datestamp would be displayed
on the GPS diagnostic page or even the myGarmin page.

Well - it's not on the myGarmin page,
and grabbing my Nuvi 255 -
the diag page (press down the batterty icon for 10secs)
shows a field called "Reset" -

Reset = 280:58:27 -

the "58:27" appear to be ticking away as "minutes / seconds",
but not sure on the "280"... it might be days ?

Since the website shows my Registration Date of 02/17/2009 -
the "280" is a little short of counting "days",
unless I registered before actually using it.

Here's my log from the last couple of days...

280-56-50 2/2/10 - 12:25
281-30-10 2/4/10 - 16:00
282-21-00 2/5/10 - 13:30
291-52-44 2/9/10 - 10:00

Its the total time in hours / minutes / seconds that the Garmin has been
switched on.
If you do a hard reset, the counter will be reset to 0.
At least that's how it works on any of the Garmins that I have used
(several etrex etc).

I don't know if there's any way of displaying the date / time of first
satellite lock.

My guess is there's some hidden file buried in an obscure or hidden
directory that time stamps the first lock on. You'd think with all the
propeller heads out there who are really into GPSs, someone would have
found a hack/crack.
