Simple question: my eTrex Vista HCx is great as is, but if I purchase the
DVD for City Navigator North America and install it, will I get the same
detail for street navigation as the units for auto (nuvi 205, 255, etc.)? I
understand there will be no touch screen, speech, but the navigation detail
is important to me. Is this a loser for the handheld versions or is it
quite efficient?
Also, must I install a memory card for installing the DVD content? If so,
how large?
Questions, questions!!! Thanks.

Can't speak to any comparisons, but I've had CityNavigator NA on
my Vista HCx for about a month now, and have been quite pleased
with the navigation detail. Far superior to the basemap in terms
of secondary roads.

You probably can install some of the CN without adding a microSD,
but why not buy a card? They are really cheap! The unit is
supposed to work with up to a 2 GB card, which is what I've used.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll take the plunge and get the City Nav DVD
from Garmin and see what happens. I've heard of horror stories in trying to
unlock the maps (apparently the Garmin servers often break connection and
the unlock process fails, but the unlock code is "used").
Anyway.............. thanks again.

Same map version = same detail. As you said, no touch screen and no voice.
