Is there any way to have POI's display on the map ?
I'm not sure of how that might work,
but something like....
driving down the highway & looking for a gas station, or McD ?
or Geocaching - going to find a specific cache,
and want to be aware of the others in the area ?
It seems that you have to bring up the POI screen,
and drill down to see if those POIs are near you
on the POI display map.

First off, what device are you using?
Next, on my c330, if I'm looking for a type of POI and I'm on a
calculated route, I can go to Where To, tell it to look Near My Current
Route and select the type of POI I'm interested in (gas or food to take
your examples) and it will list them in order of distance. If I'm just
driving around, skip the Near step, and it will also tell me in what
direction, arrows pointing up are in front of me.

That's the problem we have with Garmin, or Garmin should keep working
similar to a basic computer instead of a fixed program that they add/remove
this/that now and then.
I used to enjoy the POI displayed on the old StreetPilot, and after
reading so much about newer Nuvi with option to add POIs I was hoping to see
more POI on screen. But I am/was so disapointed that so many neat features
of the old Garmin GPS has been removed to replaced with useless junks.

YES, with my old StreetPilot III
NO, with my newer Nuvi 680
So, the opion to load customed POIs on newer Garmin model's is 1/2
worthless.
That's discouraging. I was hoping to download a few custom POIs (with their
icons), and create my own custom POI for my clients (also with icons). At
that point, I had hoped to be able to set my nuvi 200w so that, when in
range, I would see these icons on the map display. Will I not be able to do
this with the 200w?
