Just one question. I've been looking over the on-line Garmin owners
manual and may have missed this but I notice that for use in an
automobile the unit allows for a cig. lighter power source. Is that
also the case for using the unit on a motorcycle? Or is hard-wiring
the only option?

Thanks for your help.

That comes with a very nice motorcycle mount, you can see the details on
that here:

http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/1372_InstallationGuide.pdf

Most motorcycle installs will want it wired into the accessory harness
on the bike's electrical system, the supplied, self-fused harness works
well for that.

I know at least one person that had a utility electrical outlet on their
bike that has a standard DC outlet so they shortened the cable on the
supplied harness to get rid of the extra length and put a DC outlet plug
that has an internal fuse on the the end of the cable.

Doing it that way also allowed him to quickly unplug the power and move
the entire mount to a second motorcycle. That is a RAM mount. The
handlebar base shown there with the 1" ball mount on it (and a number of
other bases) can be purchased from RAM if you wanted to use the zumo on
a number of motorized toys.

The RAM Mounts are simply wonderful, very solid and versatile.
