I'm thinking buying a new laptop that will have Win7 64bit OS
Will I be able to install and use Mapsource?
Will be able to transfer routes & waypoints to my SP2610?
TIA

It's exactly the same 32-bit executable file so you should be able to do
everything that you did previously with MapSource.

Yes but wasn't Garmin having some compatibility issues with MapSource and
Win 7 either flavor?
There is a thread about a MapSource update here around March 6. People
aren't crazy about it.
OTOH
Win7 Pro & Ultimate have XP emulation

You're right, thanks for reminding me. v6.15.10 and v6.15.11 had memory
issues with Win7 when using certain maps and under certain situations.
I experienced the BSOD twice on my machine, so I reverted back to
v6.15.7 and installed the CN Europe NT 2010.31 maps without crashing.
After the successful install, I changed back to v6.15.11 and all was
working fine. I've since completely forgotten about the memory issue
with Win7. The problem was supposedly fixed in the v6.16.0.2 release
but I never got around to updating. The latest version v6.16.0.3(beta)
and the change history can be found at:
