Will 60C do timed distance runs?

Not sure how to ask this...I know from the manual the 60C will do lap
times (but there's no explanation HOW) but can it somehow do
straight-line timed runs? I'd like to use it to do some performance
comparisons on modified ATVs. Ultimate accuracy isn't as important as
repeatability for my needs. If you're familiar with a G-tech, I'd
like the GPS to give similar results using time & distance (where the
G-tech uses G's and time to calculate distance...and anyway won't work
on ATVs--too slow).
