One reason I can think of is that the Garmin newsgroup
is MUCH more active than either Magellan or Tom Tom
group!

But what other reason?

That should really be enough, don't you think :-)

I bought a TomTom a couple of years ago, and sent it back immediately
because I couldn't hear the announcements, and the route choices were
both very bizarre and very difficult to edit.

I bought a Magellan more recently, and finally gave it up because its
navigation was also rather bizarre and not easy to fix. I had it too
long to send it back, however.

I replaced it with a Garmin and have had a much better experience (no,
it's not perfect).
