Hello,

We've found a cunning place in our Focus to mount our Nuvi but it means the
antenna is flipped right up into a near vertical position. In the manual it
says the antenna should be parallel to the ground (ie 90 degrees to the nuvi
unit with the flat face facing skyward). With the few journeys we've done
we've not had any problems with losing the signal with the antenna in the
near vertical position. Will be interesting to see how it works in a
variety of different places around the country.

What about you guys and gals?? What position do you have your antenna in??

See ya,

Phiz

My 350 works fine in either position around San Diego. But haven't taken an
extended trip yet.

Well, because I didn't read the manual right through, for the first 6 months of
using my Nuvi I always had the ant fully extended in the car - ie vertical. It
always worked fine and I had no problems.

Then I read the manual, and so now have it about horizontal - but I don't
notice any difference.

However, when using it indoors I find I get a better sat pickup by having the
ant horizontal, but there is not a lot in it.

I have searched the Nuvi 350 manual and I cannot find any reference to
positioning of the antenna. Would you point me to a page number or section
of a Nuvi manual which speaks about antenna placement? It must be there
but I cannot find it.

Hello Don,

In the nuvi 310/360 manual it is described (and shown with a picture) under
'Acquiring Satellites' as part of the Bais Operation section on page 3.

Thanks for other replies on this. It seems like it doesn't really matter
whether its vertical, horizontal ... or anywhere in between!!

See ya,

Phiz
