On my mapsource, several of the roads have '71' along the route. I've
looked at all the 'help' info and haven't been able to find out what it
means. Anyone?????????

Where are you?
If you're in Illinois, perhaps what you are seeing is actually IL, and you
happen to be looking at the map from the wrong side.
I do have a vague memory of certain points or segments being identified by
numbers when I have created maps from Google Maps, but as I said, the
memory is vague (adn old as well), so I can't really help you here.

It appears on some of the roads anywhere in the country. It appears on the
'10 mile' or closer view.
