Has anyone succeeded in connecting a garmin etrex to Google Earth?
According to the GE help, you just attach the GPS as a USB or serial
device, then tell GE that you have a garmin gps, and it will import
waypoints, tracks etc, and presumably overlay them on the GE screen.
I connect my etrex to my computer using a serial-to-usb converter.
Fugawi recognises this as a device on COM9 with no problem but GE
runs thru USB,COM1,COM2...COM20 without finding the device. What am
I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance

Have you tried changing the communications protocol? There are two

not using.
It is on the System > Interface menu.

Yes I set it to "Garmin" as per the GE instructions.
Still no joy!

I think Jack's question was whether the eTrex Setup | Interface setting is
showing Garmin, rather than what options you have selected in GE.

Thanks for pointing that out. Yes, as a matter of fact it was.
