I understand that if I have a unit that was bought AFTER the latest
version came out of City Navigator, I can update the map once. Like
today, I just bought the Nuvi 765T and it has CN NT 2010.20. I know
2010.30 NT is out. However, could I wait until 2011.xx comes out and
update it then, or would I only be able to upgrade one version?

I think you have 30 days from the time the unit first acquires
satelite data to update to the latest maps. I guess if you don't turn
the unit on until the 2011 maps come out, you can update to that map.

You have 60 days after it first acquires satellites for one free update.
I updated my Nuvi 855 right after I received it and they came out with
another update a week after that, so if I had it to do over again I
would wait until near the end of the 60 days to update.

Maybe I'm the exception, but with my 265T, I didn't DO anything to get the
update.
I powered it on one day while in the car and it updated itself. I would have
LIKED to delayed the update because mine was only a few weeks old. I
thought - oh good an update - I wonder how often it updates ( thinking -
like virus definitions - that it "just did it periodically")

You did *not* get map updates with the unit sitting in the car.
