The moral of the story is that some people rely too heavily on outside
assistance, whether it's Google maps, a GPS, or something else, rather
than using common sense. It's not limited to walking.

Fine, as long as you realize that there is no such thing as a fully
updated (as in, current) map for any GPS units. There's always a lag,
and sometimes a very long lag, between real world changes and having
them appear on new GPS maps.

When I recently updated one of my units,
I found that some new roadwork was added,
but lost some POIs of certain chain stores.....

Maybe a balance between roads vs POIs
within the constraints of 2GB file size.

And some chains/chain stores don't relaibly report all their locations
to the database aggregators that assemble and package that data for sale
to companies like Garmin. The aggregators try to fix it it, but
sometimes it doesn't happen as well as one could hope.

I live in Europe. My nuvi 255 could find my house after the 2011.1 update.
In the earlier maps the house address was missing, even though it has been
built in 2008. So, you never know. Possibly, some new roads can appear.

Here in USA, City Navigator 2008 was the first version to find my address,
and that took the GPS 36 years to find mine.

The earlier maps knew where my house is, but when it gets to around
150-300' when they got confused didn't know which way to turn , and kept
sending to wrong directions.
