Unable to update ...but Garmin only knows how to get the money !

I did it 2 years ago ...but now : impossible ;-(

Me flight planner is able to do it ...but not Garmin ..it's a pity !
And I no longer want to recommend and/or buy this kind of GPS,
where the "support" is ony a "word" but does not answer to their
customer !

Make your own opinion... mine is already for another product ;-(
No longer buy Garmin..

My opinion is now that Garmin is on the stock market and
this country is going into recession. After buying 6 units
from them at around $3000.00 to $3500.00 and not being
able to use maps that I have now or maps that I might have
bought in the future. I hope Garmins board of directors and
anyone else that have stocks with them loose their ass...

Not sure what update is impossible. I just loaded different regions of
maps on my dad's Street Pilot III. It had a firmware update as well
that I did. No idea when that update came out though.

I had to load the North American 2008 City Navigator maps on it as it
will not take 2009 NT version.

As of 3 weeks ago it was not impossible. Are you expecting them to do
it for you for free?

I have StreetPilot III Deluxe (color model) and I like it very much (or
besides the slim design and street name etc.. I like StreetPilot more than
Nuvi 680), but with the 256MB limitation I would suggest to upgrade to a
newer series with the whole MAP installed.

And I don't have any idea why you spend $$$ on the v2008 then v2009 on the
poor StreetPilot III which you can use that $$$ on newer and better series
instead.

My dad actually has the deluxe as well. He got it along with v2008 as
well. However the previous owner had maps loaded for areas he didn't
care about and not for areas he wanted. So I loaded the maps he wanted.
Took several hours of copying.

He will likely NEVER update it again. Has the areas he wants and he
isn't likely to spend 70 for the 2009 maps.

If he had asked me I would have had him spend a bit more and get a new
Nuvi. For him that's all he (or I) need.

He is going to leave this GPS in his place in Florida. Only use it when
down there.
