Hi everybody,
I'm trying to convince Windows 7 64bit to install the garmin USB
drivers. Neither the setup itslef runs nor any of my attempts to
direct windows to the .sys + .inf files extracted from the latest
usb_drivers23.exe.
Any way to get my card programmer set up under x64 win7?
thanks
Armin

One possibility is a virtual machine running an older version of
Windows. I do that for my Philips Pronto remote controls.
Caveats: the Microsoft VM that is downloadable for Vista and lesser
versions of 7 doesn't do USB - or didn't when I tried it nearly a year
ago (Vista x64 here).
I am using the free VMWare Player, which is fine in Vista; I can't
speak for 7.
You would need an available license of the older Windows. I happened to
have on hand a valid and unused XP Home.

Hi Gene,
well, yes, but that's the last resort.
If I look at Garmins comments for the drivers it explicitly says:
Windows 7 x64! Unfortunately it does not install.
So hopefully someone has seen the same and solved it.

OK, I didn't realize they had x64 drivers for Win 7 (as you could
tell!). Sorry...
I see from another post (from maceda, who actually knows something),
that it should work :-(
BTW, AMD64 is Microsoft's code name for some 64-bit stuff on Intel and
AMD, for a reason I forgot. Maybe some of Intel's stuff is licensed
from AMD, or some such thing.

Have Win7 64-bits, and had no problems installing the USB drivers. Are
you using the latest version?
Mine installed themselves in the Garmin folder witha folder named
USB_Drivers, which in turn has a subfolder named Amd64 (I have an
Intel processor)
