I have a number of GPS devices, one of which is an old but still
functional 2610. No updates are available, nor is it Garmin's
intention to make any more non-NT versions.
Is there any way I can turn off the annoying reminder that "this
mapset is more than a year old and should be updated?" I'm sure there
is, but can't figure it out. I'm happy playing in the registry but
can't see the appropriate keys.
Thanks
Karen

My 350 has the same message, but I don't intend to even find out if an
update is available. Nor do I plan to drop it from a balcony :-)

It's not the unit that does it, it's the software on the computer.
Nothing wrong with the unit other than not having current maps on it -
it's used in my car which is my least used vehicle, but the 2610 is
still a really nice unit to use, so I won't be disposing of it till it
fails me terminally and Garmin can't fix it.
It's Mapsource that bugs me about old maps every single time I open it
- which is several times a day.
If you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.'

Interesting.
It's my Nuvi 350 which nags me, thus my interpretation of your remark. You
didn't specify where the message appeared & I had no reason to think your
case was different. OK, maybe one reason: you did say "registry"...
Of course, you also had no reason to assume that your situation wasn't
universal :-)

Well, consider that Nuvi owners get that message on their portable units.
