ok - Multiple maps for the same map region....
I think I figured out how to do so, but it took two different Maps and
turned them into about 20 different ones to choose from on my Rino -
ARRGGG!!
This is not a question - yet - as I have more playing to do, But it
sure would be nice if Garmin could do some documentation!!
Ok - does each segment of a map show as a seperat 'map' on the
Device?!
The number just might corespond.
If yes - What a pain to try to get the transparent one on top of the
non-transparent map!!
I just did this on my 76Cx, and there is one map on the GPS for each map
in MapQuest, not one for each segment.
I haven't tried to see one map on top of another. I didn't know it was
possible.

Ok - so what I was missing is that what Thought of a segment of a
whole map is actual a map unto itself!
So - what I thought of as the NY Topo Mp (http://
www.gpsfiledepot.com/ Great Maps but some server problems at the
moment) is actually a set of 149 maps which gives you 149 maps to turn
on/off on the GPS Device!!
The maps you want near the top of the list you have to load in
MapSource 1st and then work your way down.
I have also found that as you add maps from other Map Sets that
are the same location of the previous map(s) you loaded that they
occlude the pervious so you cannot see just what all you have!!
For a large amount of maps - currently about 176 mb - I found it
to be almost twice as fast to 1st create/copy the gmapsupp.img file to
my flash drive (I accidentally found that it shows up as a Device) and
then put my Rino into USB Host Mode and copy the file over through
windows explore. Extra Steps but saves about 15 minutes for each
transfer. Plus this way I can get the same map set on both of my Rino's

On most (mapping) Garmin's you can chose to show or hide a complete map
set at once. On my eTrex Venture Cx:
on map page, press menu -> Setup Map, change to the tab for "Map Setup -
Information", where it lists all of the individual map tiles you have
loaded. Then press menu again - you can then choose to show all or hide
all maps, or hide a complete map set etc.
I've not used the Rino, but I assume it has a similar option somewhere?
If the maps are set as transparent, they should show what other maps are
in that area underneath. Though this also depends on what order the maps
are set to, ie which one is shown on top. I think this is embedded in
the map set, so you can't change the order on the GPS.
