Currently my Garmin Topos are on CD. That becomes a pain when I switch
between my CS c320 maps and Topo - always looking for the CD.

I once read where I can copy my Topo East CD to the harddrive and
access it from there. I know how to copy the cd to the harddrive, but
then how do I point Mapsource to the appropriate drive/directory for
viewing?

TIA, James

Copy the entire topo CD to a working or temporary folder on the hard
drive and run setup.exe from there.

Uninstall your existing install before you do that.

If it installs an older version of MapSource, you can download the
update to a newer version from Garmin.

When you are finished, you can delete the working folder.

Jack,

Thanks to you and others that have emailed the process. I plan to back
up my HD first and then give it a shot.

Thanks again, James

It's worth noting that Topo U.S. 2008 comes on one
DVD and does install to the HDD automatically.
IMHO -- big improvement over the old version which
I've used since its release.

Phil, On the new dvd Topo, do you still install small segments or
state by state?

The reason I ask, is that I install Topo and CS maps both to my 60cx.
It is a pain when I have to 'de-select' each Topo segment to view just
CS maps.

My c320 is different when I install both Topo and CS maps. In the menu
it will allow me to select either or both maps, not segments.

Thanks for the info. James
