I'd like to understand how the softwareupdate i download from Garmin manages
the licensing.
When I download the Update for CN Europe it gives me a SN bevor starting the
download, but the update- installer does never ask me for it. I ask this
because I've 2 Nuvi 1490T (2 cars and 2 nuvis) , and don't understand if I
can download the huge update (3,5gb!!) only one time and install it on both
devices, or if it would mess up the 2. device. If I could enter the two SN
manually it would be easier, actually i download the same update twice,
wasting a lot of time...
my impression is that the Garmin download
already has the serial number embedded,
and therefore just downloads & installs
on your GPS you have selected from the Garmin website.
If you try to install on a different GPS,
it will fail - but that's just my impression.
