Hello everyone, and I hope you all had a Merry Christmas!
I did get an Etrex Venture HC, and I love it! Using the diagnostic
page, I found out that it had an older version of the System Software.
(Version 2.70 to be exact.) And I used the Garmin website and upgraded
it to Software verion 3.00.
In case you don't know, the program that installs the new software for
the Venture HC is the same program used for the Summit HC, but it
detects whether it's the Venture HC or the Summit HC and installs the
software appropriately.
Anyway, everything went perfect. But, maybe too perfect?
Since the upgrade to version 3.00, my Venture HC now has an altimeter,
which I believe it didn't have before. It does work, but I didn't
think the Venture HC was supposed to have an altimeter. Is it?
Not, only that, but it says it has a barometer! I know the Venture HC
doesn't have one, but it has a choice on the altimeter menu to view
the barometer. When I choose it, though, no pressure information shows
up.
Other than that, this thing works wonderful! It's superior to my etrex
Legend in almost every way.
So whats up with this thing? Is it supposed to have an altimeter, and
it's normal to say it has a barometer but doesn't? Is this a bug in
software 3.00 and I shouldn't have bothered to upgrade? Does my
Venture HC think it's a Summit HC? (It says Venture HC when it's
powered up, though.)
Any help or even just an explanation of whats going on or if it's
completely normal would be great! Thanks!
