The map page shows travel direction in a small window just to the right of
the Menu button on the bottom of the screen--- as long as no destination is
set. Once I set one, the direction changes to ETA at the destination-- which
I really don't care about.

Is there an option to display direction of travel with a destination set?

I guess the only option is to go back to the older model or may be using
the none Auto-Route map then you may have the distance between *current
POINT* to the *destination* with no distance in between.

That's was how we had on our older model and older map.

You can set the map to "North Up". Direction of travel is the
direction the car icon is moving.

You can tap the speed indicator to get the "cockpit view" which will
show you your current speed, remaining distance to destination,
direction of travel, and other info.
