There seem to be two ways to do this:
1. Tap the screen and then save.
2. WhereTo/MyLocations/CurrentLocation then Save.

My question is: what do I get with method 1? The current location or
where I tapped?

Bob-

I tried an experiment with the Nuvi's antenna folded so navigation was
turned off. I tapped the screen of the Nuvi 350, at a point well away
from the current location. A new screen popped up, but the little arrow
had not moved. There were now three choices: Back, Set Loc. and Go.
By choosing Set Loc., it became obvious that the Set location was the
same as the current location. However, there was no option to "Save
Location". The only way I found was to simulate Going there, and
finding it in my Recent Selections list. Selecting it from that list
gave an option to Save.

Going one step further, instead of choosing Go or Set Loc. after tapping
the map, I tried tapping it again at another location. This time the
arrow moved to the spot where I had tapped. By simulating Going there
and looking in the Recent Selections list, I found the location to be
the one selected by the second tap.

I was trying to repeat the experiment with the antenna open, when my
battery died. It is quite an old Nuvi 350!
