I have built my routes in Mapsource Metroguide.
I clicked on rout tools at my home and then click on turn-point up to
my destination.
It goes from a city to another one following a very odd route. This is
because I will do it by bicycle so I want to go through the less
crowded (sometimes even unpaved) way and not though the faster one.
Then I uploaded to my 60cs and choose Route.
The bad thing is that if I keep "follow road" it create a new
(best) rout not following my odd one.
If I choose "off road' it goes though the fields.
What I need it that it strictly follows my intermediate points and not
just from start one to the finish one
Any advice??
Thanks

All Garmin units have this problem as far as I know. When you click
on intermediate points to create "map points" in MapSource, these
map points do not go to the the GPS receiver. It builds its own
route.
To prevent this, create real waypoints with the Waypoint tool, then
connect them into a route. The GPSR will follow that route. I always
examine the route after transferring it to my 60C to make sure I
have made enough waypoints to tell it where I want to go.

Not the 2610, You can it turn off Automatic Off-Route Recalcualtion
and it will keep the original route, regardless.

Thanks. That's good to know. Does the original route include the map
points or does it also need real waypoints?

It includes all the via points, whether they be waypoints, POIs or
"map points" (I assume you mean a point on a road, such a junction or
a street address or a point on a rural road etc).
In fact, I have played around with the driving speeds on the Routing
Preferences in MapSource as a way to force routes which takes the back
roads in preference to the highways. This is an alternative way of
forcing a route to the other way of adding lots more via points. This
works too, so I assume the actual turn instructions are downloaded as
is. Of course, doing it this way, means that if you tell the 2610 to
recalculate the route it will be much less like the original than if I
had used extra via points.
The 2610 has a different way to control custom route calculatiuon by
adjusting preferences for Majot, Medium and Minor roads. This doesn't
work that well, I think because the road classifications in the maps
is all to cock with small roads being classified as Major and
vica-verca.
