WE made the trip this past week from Dayton, OH to Salisbury,Eastern
Shore MD and I have discovered something odd between the 2 Nuvis' route
selection.
En route , I took the 760 and fiddled withthe NAVIGATION settings and
found the following:
1) The 760 with TOLL road Avoidance enabled routes us thru Baltimore,
on to Delaware and down to Salisbury MD. THROUGH the BALTIMORE TUNNEL
for which a toll is paid. Tolls are due both ways thru the tunnel.
2) The 660 with TOLL road avoidance enabled routes us south of
Baltimore across the CHesapeake Bay Bridge and on to Salisbury. There
is a toll to cross the Bay bridge but only west to east. The return
trip across the Bay bridge is free.
30 Removing the toll road avoidance on the 760 will cause the 760 to
calculate the identical route to that of the 660.
So the difference is the 760 seems to obey the toll avoidance, but
doesn't really as a toll is still paid at the tunel.
Which begs the question: Is a toll tunnel not considered to be a toll
road by the 760, but a toll bridge is ? and
Is a toll bridge not considered a toll road by the 660?
What constitutes a toll road avoidance ?
Any ideas ? Any of you with Nuvi's othe than 760 or 660, how does toll
road avoidance affect its routing?
what map versions are loaded into each unit -
as that is where the road "attributes" comes from

I don't have them at hand now, but I'm pretty sure the Nuvi 660 has

the City Navigator 2008 and the 760 has City Navigator 2009. When I
return home, I'll verify that.
