If you can benefit from it then it's a GOOD IDEA, if you don't have any
benefit from is then it can be either Good or Bad.

Not a problem at all, IMHO. What's wrong with being more careful for a
particular intersection? The cameras are intended to stop people from
running red lights. The GPS units are helping to achieve this, rather than
hurting. Adding red lights, as well as cameras, to the list makes it even
more of a win-win.

Contrast this with radar detectors, which give speeders a sense of security
so they can speed more without fear of detection. One of the more
imaginative responses to this was to scatter solar powered radar emitters
along the highway, resulting in slower driving,. This created a situation
more like that resulting from the red light POIs, where people are
consistently careful more of the time.

OTOH, if people got sloppier about running the other red lights, because
they were not on the POI list, that could be a problem. I don't think
that's happening.

Escort now has a model that has internal GPS. You can mark the permanent
non-police radar locations and the detector will ignore them.

Good places for cops to hide though <G>.
