it's called - GeoTagging - you can browse that topic -
The concept is to embed in the digital photo header info
the lat/lon coords.... and then it is up to the viewing device or browser -
SO... you would need a specific feature on a Garmin to make use of that
feature.

Garmin calls it - Photo Navigation -

There are 2 related - but different - concepts here...
#1 - POI's -
These are just the lat/lon coords of a specific location,
along with some textual description to show up on the screen
when looking thru the Custom POI menu.
ie - just like any other POI included in the unit.
The POI list may be downloaded from various sites,
or manually created.
You use the (free) Garmin POILoader program
to read and convert text CSV files or GPX files
into a single POI file downloaded into the GPS.
#2 Photo Navigation -
I don't have a Garmin that supports that new feature,
so not exactly sure what different options exist
for taking your own geotagged photos
and downloading them into the Garmin GPS.
BUT - it would appear to be two different worlds -
1 - POI textual files using POILoader
2 - Photo Navigation files using ???

the POI loader format has 4 fields it is looking for;
lat & lon, name, and 4th is a "comment" - anything you want... addr. phone,
etc
it can be enclosed in quotes to yield all the textual info -

try this link on the Garmin site - for some basic FAQ -
http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/us/support/searchsupport?search_key=photo+navigation&Go=Submit
in other words - you can lookup POI text in the Custom POI area,
or can lookup photos that have been loaded for viewing / navigating..
Does not seem to have the integration of the two POI concepts,
but merely the normal POI "where to"
with the addition of viewing photos and pulling nav info from the headers.
Seems like two different areas to me -
