Yes, by golly, you are correct. The 2009 upgrade is available and you will
find if you qualify once you hook your Garmin to your computer and log into
"My Garmin"... that is, if you registered your unit. I did mine yesterday.
It does take a while though, so make sure you have a sandwich and a beer
standing by. Good luck.

I am just installing the update now onto my 250 and yes it is taking
awhile. I never got an e-mail but when I logged into My Garmin it told
me I qualified for the free update.

Mind giving details of what to do? I'm plugged into the computer and
after logging in and going to my maps, I see the info on my unit.
Current map is 2008 dated from Apr 07 and was unlocked 4/8/8 (the day I
registered. I see the 2009 map available with 2 selections to buy
either the disk or download.

Since I purchased/registered 4 weeks ago should I qualify and am I
missing something regarding getting the updated map for free?

IIRC there were threads on this when the policy kicked in - they were
refusing to issue free updates to pre-installed hardware sold to the
*VENDOR* IIRC before the cutoff date due to their new map policy.
