So - is it 10,000 points total that wil lbe split between 20 saved
tracks?
Or should it be 10,000 points that can be saved up to 20 times into a
track thus equalling 200,000 point that can be saved?

If it is the latter then do I have to manually save each of the
tracks, or will should it automacticlly creat a new Track once the
10,000 points have been reach and then start a new track?
At this point I get just a tad under 3 hours of recorded track at
one point per second and then that is it! Either it will stop or will
wrap depending upon how I have it set. (FYI as per another discusion:
Set at once per .01 miles does not record once a second at walking
speeds - it is actually .01 miles regardless of the time invertval)

If it can record a Max of 10,000 points total than it would be
nice if there could be a different record rate for the unit with a
seperat rate for the memory cards!!

Thanks!

Once I ask I often find out on my own!!
Up to 20 Tacks of 500 Points which equals 10,000.
So 10,000 is the max!

Now to convince Garmin of a Firmware update that will alow a different
record rate for the Unit than for the Memory Card. (That is a low
record rate fot eh Unit with a High rate for the Memory card!!) And
to also bring back the Record rat by foot down to one foot so that it
will record once a second when moving but not record when stoped.

In the case of my eTrex Lgend HCX, once the track feature is enabled,
the unit begins recording points at user-selected time or distance
intervals up to internal memory's or the SD card's capacity. The
selected time/distance intervals apply whether using internal memory
or an added data card. Having a point every second seems an overkill;
try 30" or even one minute. In every case, once the capacity has been
reached, the unit will always discard the oldest data to record newer.
To get more than a single track, one must save an active track (with
appropriate name) and then begin another. The unit will not create a
new track unless told to; it will append by default thus wasting
capacity & saving usually irrelevant data. It generally would make no
sense to record points connecting independent tracks. Your tracks can
be saved to MapSource or any compatible mapping program, erased from
the unit to make room for newer data, and then reloaded onto the unit
when needed.

Thanks for responding!
So on the eTrex it can do more than 10,000 total?
From the Rino Manual 10,000 is the limit - and by what I
transfered form my Rino's internal memory (not the memory card) it
maxed out at just under 3 hours at 1 point per second (10,000 points)
and this without me creating/saving any Tracks. I'll have to try
saving the Track when it is near full to see if in total it ends up
being more than 10,000 over several tracks - though the manual says 20
Tracks at 500 points each. Possibly when I go to save a Track it will
reduce the data down to 500 points???
As for the overkill - I'm trying to map out snowmoile trails and
the finer the data the better. Some times there are 2 turns within 30
feet and I don't want to miss that sort of data. With turns that close
and sharp it does take sveral seconds to go the 30 feet.
My Rino is doing well with a 8GB data card so I should be able to
capture all of the data I need (though I do Want 10mz data capture
rates :-). But for navagation use, as oposed to data capture for
mapping, being able to tack back farther than the 3 hours could be a
saftey issue. So if I could set the Rino to record internally so that
the 10,000 points last for a whole day than I would be able to Track
Back safely and also have the memory Card record at the the finest
detail rate I would have the mapping end covered as well.

Thanks again

You should be able to track back on the "going out" points; the unit
will merely read them in reverse order so there would no no
substantial gain in creating a track which is simply the reverse of
another. I'm pretty sure all popular GPS units have a "go back"
feature.
