The unit has a problem finding satellites. Sometimes I have to take it
outside to get the satellites and even then it will take up to 8-10 minutes.
The next time it will get them within a minute or less. I put it next to my
60CSx and turned both on (cold boot) the 60CSx took less than a minute, the
Nuvi after several minutes displayed "having trouble finding satellites do
you wish to continue" I said OK and it took several more minutes to get the
satellites. Do I have a bad unit or does the 750 have some problems?
last location was probably the location of the Garmin factory. If you live
a long distance from there, the 750 has to provide additional computations
to find the satellites for your location. The 750 knows your approximate
location an all subsequent power-ons, so it takes less time.
The first try attempt time can be lessened if you had plugged in your
approximate location during the first startup.
I am sure Jack or someone else can provide a more technical explanation
but this should suffice to let you know I don't think you 750 is bad.

I should have been more clear. I've had the unit a week, it's been on and
off many times at the same location. The initial time it actually took less
time to find the satellites than many of the more recent attempts.

My Nuvi 360 shows similar behavior occasionally. We noticed it most when

making trips with several stops. At least once during the trip it will take
a very long time to lock onto a signal. The last few times it happened, my
wife noticed turning it off then on seemed to make it lock on almost right
away, but (being the contrarian I am), I argued it was about to lock onto
the signal the instant she turned it off anyway.

Hi all, my nuvi 350 too, if i switch it on from a different location
than the last and at the same time i've destination in progress
it doesn't lock any satellites in almost dozen minutes.. the trick is
stopping the route and sitch it off.
At the restart it lock in the usual time used starting from a
different location
I find very useful the "reset" button :) fortunately it doesn't happen
to use it so often.. but in the case it solve any problem :)
